It's a situation nobody wants... you just had your tox appointment a few weeks ago, and you’re already noticing those little lines starting to peek back through. Frustrating, right?
Let’s talk about why this might happen and what you can do to help your Botox, Dysport, or other tox results last and have you looking your best as long as possible.

Why doesn't tox last the same for everyone?
On average, injectable neurotoxins like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin last about 3–4 months. The truth is that everybody is a little different, so how tox metabolizes with each person will be different as well. A few things can affect if your tox isn't lasting and how long your results stick around:
Your metabolism: People with faster metabolisms sometimes process tox more quickly.
Muscle strength: If you have strong facial muscles or expressive features, results may wear off a bit sooner.
Lifestyle factors: Things like frequent workouts, sun exposure, or stress can play a role.
Dosage & placement: The amount of tox used and where it’s placed can impact longevity (ie, less tox can wear off quicker).

What to do if your tox isn't lasting...
Don’t panic—sometimes it’s timing. Your body may just be adjusting, especially if it’s your first or second time getting tox. With our clients in our Orlando aesthetics office, we find that consistency usually leads to better, longer-lasting results over time.
Check in with your injector. If you feel like your tox isn’t lasting as long as it should, let us know! Sometimes a little adjustment in dosage or technique makes all the difference.
Keep up with your appointments. Coming in regularly (every 3–4 months) helps “train” your muscles to relax more easily, which can help your results last longer in the future.

How to extend the life of your tox until your next appointment
While there’s no magic trick to make tox last forever (wouldn’t that be nice?!), there are a few ways you can stretch your results between appointments.
Here's how to extend the life of your tox— and improve your skin in general— until your next appointment...
Protect your skin from the sun. UV damage breaks down collagen and can make fine lines more noticeable. A good SPF is your best friend.
Take care of your skin. Using high-quality skincare— especially medical-grade products— can enhance and maintain your smooth look.
Stay hydrated. Well-hydrated skin looks healthier and helps you get the most out of your treatments.
Avoid smoking. This is a big one that is tough on your skin and accelerates the return of fine lines.
Relax those muscles. Try to be mindful of squinting, frowning, or clenching your jaw—habits that can make tox wear off faster. Consider switching your favorite water cup to one without a straw to reduce excess use of those facial muscles!
Consider adding zinc. Here’s a little insider tip: tox is actually a zinc-dependent process. Some studies suggest that taking a daily zinc supplement (especially zinc with phytase) may help your results last longer. It’s not a magic pill, but for some people, it really does make a difference. Of course, check with your doctor first to make sure it’s a good fit for you.
